LOCATION: PUNGGOL, SINGAPORE
Bounded by New Punggol Road, Northshore Drive, and a proposed Heritage Trail, Punggol Point Crown is the first Super Low Energy Building (SLEB) HDB residential estate in Singapore.
It comprises of 9 residential blocks ranging from 6 to 26 storeys, containing 1,545 units of 2-room, 3-, 4-, and 5-room flats. Developed by Housing and Development Board (HDB), these residences will be the first district where smart technologies are deployed in public housing, as a testbed for other HDB estates in future.
Technologies include an intelligent car park system smart pneumatic waste conveyance system incorporated into the blocks. Sensors in the system will monitor waste disposal patterns, to optimise the deployment of resources for waste collection. The housing district will be planned according to a biophilic framework to promote and maintain biodiversity in an urban environment.
What is SLEB?
It stands for Super Low Energy Building. It is a Green Mark certified building that is fitted with the latest green technology and has best-in-class energy performance with at least 40% energy saings as per the current code.
Our Involvement
GreenA Consultants serve as the ESD and CFD consultants to attain Green-Mark Gold Plus rating for this project. The 1,545 units are fitted with water and energy efficient fittings and this development offers its residents a check on their electricity consumption with the incorporation of smart technology and infrastructure. Along with this, the development is strategically placed to enhance connectivity to major highways and public transportation, reducing carbon emissions from private vehicles.
Biophilia Design
This development provides access to green spaces and sky gardens while deploying smart technology in maintaining these spaces.
Encouraging Low Carbon Materials
GreenA stressed on the importance of using construction material with low embodied carbon and recycled content. Materials used for construction are certified as green and sustainable by the local body.

Challenges
As this is the first residential building with a target of Super Low Energy Building (SLEB), there were no other reference projects. There are challenges in design integration of the project currently in construction and suppressing increments in cost. Despite these challenges, we were able to rise to the challenge through expertise and adaptability.
Green Mark Gold Plus
We are proud to announce that this project has attained the Green Mark Gold Plus and is the first residential building that has attained Super Low Energy (SLE) Residential Building (RB) status.
With an environmental sustainability goal, the project boasts:
