National Gallery of Singapore

A Green Mark 2021 In-Operation Platinum SLE Award

National Gallery Singapore, a leading visual arts institution which oversees the world’s largest public display of Singapore and Southeast Asian modern art, is the largest museum in Singapore at ~64,000m2.

GreenA created a sustainability strategy towards Net Zero, measured their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and analyzed the opportunities for the building to be Zero Energy and Zero Carbon.

The Sustainability roadmap

  • Considering environmental, social and UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDG),
  • Engagement of internal stakeholders and the community,
  • Identifying and prioritizing opportunities/improvement initiatives to achieve Platinum and/or SLE, zero energy and zero carbon.

Preparation of concept design and relevant technical specifications to call for tender/s for the identified/prioritized improvement projects.

The Feasibility study also included:

  • Calculation of The Gallery’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions (Scope 3 audit to be limited to building’s carbon) and the review/analysis of cooling systems, pumps, and lightings.
  • As well as possibility to attain International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Zero certification.
