Panama Green Building Council and GreenA Consultants signed a MOU to develop an Eco-Protocol for Panama City Municipality. This protocol is customised to fit the environmental conditions of city and localized green building specifications. Metrics include energy and water conservations and efficiency, waste minimization, level of recycling, environmental commitment, green materials used as well as indoor air quality.
The main aim of the protocol is to drive Panama’s construction industry towards more environmentally-friendly building development.

The Eco-Protocol included building a green building rating system to assess governmental buildings for its environmental impact and performance. This is a comprehensive framework to evaluate the overall environmental performance.

The launch of the eco-protocol was conducted during the opening ceremony of the FORO INTERNACIONAL Y EXPO 2016 CIUDADES SOSTENIBLES on 6th July 2016, held in Panama City with the attendance of delegates from all over Latin America.
This Eco-Protocol is looking to provide meaningful differentiation of buildings in the real estate market and government.
