An on-site food digester significantly reduces food waste sent to landfills, promoting waste diversion and contributing to increase of waste diversion rate. Additionally, automated in-room motion, air-conditioning, and light sensor technology optimize energy use by adjusting settings based on occupancy. These measures ensure efficient resource management, minimizing the hotel’s environmental impact while enhancing guest comfort.
Sustainable Operations and Monitoring
The hotel implements a comprehensive operations plan supported by the LightStay system, which tracks and monitors energy, water, and waste performance. This data-driven approach allows for ongoing analysis and optimization of operational efficiency. By ensuring that maintenance activities are targeted and effective, Hilton Singapore Orchard not only reduces operational costs but also reinforces its commitment to sustainability.
Sustainable Procurement of Materials and Ingredient
The hotel’s commitment to sustainability extends to its landscaping and material choices. Sustainable practices include using cage-free eggs in the café and sourcing seafood certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The elimination of single-use plastics is a priority, exemplified by in-house water refill systems that reduce reliance on plastic bottles. Full-sized bulk bath amenities replace traditional single-use options, minimizing plastic waste and promoting a more sustainable guest experience.
