The E-Metro Logistics Park (MetroHub2) is a 2-storey logistics hub warehouse located in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia with a GFA of 80,149 sqm. Strategically positioned, it offers easy accessibility to extensive road networks, public transportation, airports, and a seaport. Awarded the Green Mark Certified status, MetroHub2 incorporates various the following sustainable green features:
Energy
The major energy efficient passive design of the project consists of low window-to-wall ratio (WWR) façade, low U-value of external wall and roof to reduce solar heat gain with roof U-value at 0.256 W/m2K. The roof materials are also specified to have high solar reflectance index (SRI) to reduce solar heat gain. The major energy efficient active design of the project consists of energy-saving lift, non-flickering LED lighting with a tailored 60% saving in lighting power density (LPD). Carparks are designed with natural ventilation, while carbon monoxide (CO) sensors efficiently regulate the demand for mechanical ventilation (MV), ensuring optimal energy performance throughout the facility.
Water
All water fittings are specified to have low flow rate with 3-ticks rating under the Singapore’s Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS). Private meters installed to monitor the water consumption during operation.
Sustainable Construction
The concrete usage index (CUI) is 0.41 m3/m2 to reduce the embodied carbon and construction cost. Internal walls will be painted with low VOC paints to reduce the transfer of harmful chemicals into air. During the construction of the warehouse, certified sustainable products are used the reduce the embodied carbon of the warehouse.
GreenA Consultants’ Involvement
As the ESD Consultant, GreenA played a pivotal role in guiding the project towards Green Mark Certification. Through intensive collaboration, GreenA provided constructive advice to enhance both design and construction practices, ensuring sustainability goals were met effectively throughout the process.
