LOCATION: FUNAN MALL, SINGAPORE
ADIDAS Group, a worldwide sportswear manufacturer, has incorporated the LEED certification into their annual sustainable targets from 2016 in order to reduce the energy and water consumption as well as enhance the indoor air quality and material stewardship.
The project occupies level 8 and level 9 tenant area at the base building, Funan, which amounts to 2415 sqm in total. As LEED consultants, we have been involved during the design stage and set the targeted goals with all stakeholders to balance the sustainability goals and operation realities.
Water Efficiency: Indoor Water Use Reduction
The team has selected the WELS 3-tick product for the pantry tap, which achieves 55% saving against the LEED baseline. This leads to an estimated reduction of around 1000 cubic meter per year and the amount could cover around 130 local resident’s annual household water consumption.
Quality Views in Non-Regularly Occupied Spaces
The project has taken advantage of the large curtain wall of the building and designed over 15% of the non-regularly occupied spaces beside the window to obtain the quality view. This includes two break / cafeteria area at each level.
Indoor Environmental Quality: Enhanced IAQ Strategies
To promote the indoor environmental quality, a 30% increased ventilation above the ASHRAE is provided into the project space. This is achieved over the provision of the fresh air fan speed. Below is a summary of the baseline and the project performance.
The extra supply of the outdoor fresh air will provide a faster air change and contributes to the working productivity.
Construction Waste Management
Reduce- The project team selected the vendor or manufacture that will fabricate and properly size the materials at the factory before delivery, thus to maximumly control the generated waste.
Recycle – The project manager has educated the builders to seek the opportunities for onsite reuse and recycle. The team has also contracted a recycle waste hauler to collect the recyclables and weighted the waste for monitoring records.
Energy & Atmosphere: Optimize Energy Performance
The lighting system has been carefully designed and all lighting fixtures installed onsite are high-efficient LEDs to balance the demand lux level and energy consumption. 91% of the equipment (by consumption) is labelled or equivalent with the Energy Star certification.
